I came to this country in 2000 to work for one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies. My main job was to create active ingredients for skincare — I have a Ph.D. in biochemistry.
I did this on an exclusive basis, and in 2005, I had the chance to move forward. Besides working in pharmaceuticals, I opened my own consulting company working with high-end cosmetic companies, developing concepts and formulas.
When I looked at the cosmetic industry, I asked myself, what is missing? Something doesn’t feel right. I felt like the cosmetic industry had too much redundancy, too much repetition. I felt like no one had time for innovation, but everyone had time for meetings. This is why I decided to get back to school in 2012 and I enrolled at NYU Stern for an MBA.
I have always had a job and school at the same time. If I achieve a lot, it’s because I always have a lot on my plate. I needed more knowledge — I needed to know more about marketing, especially luxury marketing. My goal was to create my own brand — to be the first luxury skin care brand based on multi-functionality.
I got a lot of knowledge from NYU Business School. I learned not just marketing — I created relationships. It was the best investment in myself.
After I graduated, I had the basics to understand what luxury business is. I knew how to run a business and how to create a functional, sustainable business. And my goal to create a billion-dollar brand? It’s not going to be today or tomorrow — it will probably take 20 years.
My second reset happened in 2015 when I created a new cosmetic brand Infinitude. It’s exactly my dream come true.
