I spent about 15 years of my career as an executive running companies that were in the field of medical aesthetics and high-tech beauty. I decided to become a mom and it was a big decision for me because I’m a single mom. I decided to do this on my own.
When I became pregnant, my girlfriends and I were all sitting around and they shared with me what happens to a woman’s body physically after childbirth. I assumed they meant that women gain weight and then they struggle to take it off. But they talked more about pelvic floor health and the symptoms that women experience like every time you jump up and down or sneeze, you wet your pants.
No one had shared that with me. I was mortified. That conversation led to other changes that women encounter in their pelvic floor region as a result of aging and going through menopause. As we were having this discussion, I was absolutely terrified.
I immediately did some research and learned how pervasive these problems were and how many women suffer in silence because there are few treatments available outside of surgery. Most women learn to live with the embarrassment or the pain.
I thought to myself, this can’t be right, there has to be something better for women. That’s when I had this ah-ha moment. I’ve been working with technologies in the beauty world that help women feel and look younger by tightening and toning the tissues. Can the same technology be applied to the vaginal tissue so we can restore the tissue and avoid these problems?
I discovered that there was an opportunity and no one was taking it. I Reset by starting Joylux and have been committed to helping improve women’s pelvic floor health ever since. I give women options that are non-invasive, non-hormonal and all natural. It’s a way for women to live a better quality of life.
I have a three-and-a-half-year-old boy who is the love of my life. I have gone from being a beauty executive to mom. So it’s been a major reset, but one that’s been incredible.
I have two babies. I have my baby at home and I have the baby at the office. And so I have to nurture both of them, which means I have to balance my time. But at the end of the day my priority, hands down, will always be my son. But this company allows my son and I to have the life that we have.
I’m so thrilled that women now have a voice and are coming forward and saying, “Hey, it’s okay to talk about these issues.” I really feel that it’s time for women’s health to catch up.
