Kerry Diamond doesn’t just get the job done. She reinvents the job all together. Whether fearlessly following her passion into a totally new career (trading in her fashion and beauty background to take on the restaurant industry) or rocking her podcast, she conquers each new adventure with her own signature style—leaving everyone else wowed in her wake. Having previously worked at Lancome, Coach, Harper’s Bazaar and Women’s Wear Daily, today this Brooklyn-based powerhouse is best known as the editorial director of Cherry Bombe—a food-meets-fashion mag with a cult following—plus the host of the Radio Cherry Bombe podcast and owner of the beloved Smith Canteen coffee shop.

"Anything that's black and has pockets. For some reason, those are two things I gravitate toward. I feel like R|Label read my mind."

Describe your current relationship with your closet? (love it, hate it, we need to break up)

We’re in a good place at the moment. The older you get, the more you figure out what works for you.

What’s your pet peeve when it comes to dressing?

I only have one real pet peeve and it’s about turtlenecks. I love a good turtleneck, but they always stretch out. I wish designers would make them with a discreet zipper in the back. That way you’d never have to stretch out the fabric to get it over your head.

Describe the outfit that makes you feel like the most authentic version of yourself.

Anything that’s black and has pockets. For some reason, those are two things I gravitate toward. I feel like R|Label read my mind.

When did you last push The Reset Button?

I seem to push the reset button a lot. I’ve changed careers a few times, from newspapers to magazines to beauty to PR to the food world. Maybe it’s not so much a reset button, but the twists and turns you inevitably take throughout life.

We love your magazine, Cherry Bombe. Any plans for your next venture to help women advance in the culinary world?

Thank you! I keep coming back to the subject of health. Physical health, mental health, fiscal health. The next few projects I tackle in the world of women and food will cover those subjects.

What is your dream dinner and who would you want to share it with?

My dream dinner would be anything al fresco involving lots of pasta, lots of rosé, no mosquitos, a beautiful sunset and my family and friends. I’m lucky that several of my friends and family members are pretty hilarious, so mealtime involves a lot of laughing. Sometimes a dream dinner can be the one you have with yourself. It’s nice to unwind, take stock, cook something lovely and enjoy your own company.

What are the people, places and/or things that inspire you to be your best self?

Probably the women I’ve been able to meet through Cherry Bombe. There are so many incredibly, smart, sensitive and altruistic women in our community–they really inspire me to do better, be better and work harder.

What’s your favorite R|Label piece and why?

The black moto jacket. It’s such an easy piece to throw over a T-shirt or a dress and look pulled together. And it’s vegan!

How or where do you go to rejuvenate to recharge?

I walk, be it on a beach, in the city, on a treadmill, even in an airport. Walking always clears my mind.

Describe your personal style in three words:

What is clean? Kidding, kind-of. I guess “on the go.” I have a pretty active lifestyle and am always running from office to appointment, so anything that is comfortable, moves well and helps me look pulled together is great.

If you were to write your own morning mirror what would it be? (Daily Affirmation)

Seize the day!
